Newsletter December 2016
Hello and Goodbye
We would like to say a big hello to Amariah who is joining our Red Room and Lilah who has joined our Yellow room. We would like to welcome them both to Bay Tree House and we hope they enjoy their time with us.
At the end of last month we had to say a sad goodbye to Freya and Tyreese who left our Red room due to moving out of the area. We would like to wish them all the very best and hope to see them in the New Year.
Celebrating the Diversity within our Nursery
Throughout December we will continue looking at Barbados as our country of interest. The children are learning about the currency used, traditional costumes, what colours are in their flag and different foods that are popular from there. If you are interested in providing any information or would like to come in and cook to help us make this really interesting for the children please speak to your child’s keyworker. Thank you to Amara’s Grandmother for making a lovely macaroni cheese pie and coconut bread. It was enjoyed by all.
Theme of the month
The children will be looking at festivals, celebrations and winter as their themes for December. Blue rooms letter of the month is ‘D’ and if the children can find any packaging, leaflets, etc with numbers on can they bring them in also.
Thank you to all parents who went on line to give their support in our new venture. We are still awaiting the outcome of the planning permission but will let parents know when we receive an answer.
Christmas Activities Week
On Monday 12th December the whole nursery will be having Christmas Lunch together. On Tuesday 13th December Red, Yellow and both Baby Rooms will be visiting ‘Little Rascals’ in Bellingham. On Wednesday 14th December Blue Room will be visiting Santa in his Grotto at Bromley and the rest of the children will have Christmas Crafts day. On Thursday 15th December Red and Yellow Room will be visiting Santa in his Grotto and Blue Room will be having their Christmas Crafts day and on Friday 16th December Blue Room will be going to the Churchill Theatre in Bromley to see the ‘Peter Pan’ Panto. We will also be wearing our Xmas jumpers to raise money for charity on Friday 16th December.
The weekend Children will be having their Christmas Lunch on Saturday 3rd December, Christmas craft activities will be Saturday 10th December and the Christmas Party for the whole nursery will be Saturday 17th December.
Our Christmas Party this year is on Saturday 17th December 2016 at ‘the Jubilee Ground’ in Canadian Avenue from 12:00-4:00pm. We are limited to how many people we can have in the function room so ask that only 2 adults per child attend. If more tickets are required these can be purchased for £5 per ticket. Could you please let your child’s class know if you will be attending and how many adults there will be, tickets will be given out nearer the date.
General House keeping
A reminder to all parents that if you leave your pushchairs in the buggy shed they need to be folded down. If any are left open they will be removed from the shed and left on the drive. We are also noticing that scooters/bikes and other ride on toys are also being left and ask that you avoid bringing these to nursery. If any are found in the shed we will put them in the garden for the children to use.
The colder weather is really here now but this should not stop your child from having fun playing outdoors. Can you please make sure they have the appropriate outdoor clothing for this time of year and also check that your child’s blue bag contains winter spare clothes and that they have a pair of wellingtons that can be left at nursery.
Children in need
A big Thank you to everyone who took part in the Children in need Fundraiser. We raised an amazing £284.97. Thank you to everyone who contributed, especially Shonda, for all the meals she made, Sandra for making Jollof rice to sell and Chrystal for volunteering for the ‘Pie in the face’ challenge.
