Newsletter April 2018

At the end of February we had to say a sad goodbye to Iustin. He is moving to Romania where his mummy and daddy are from. We would like to wish the family a safe journey and all the very best for their future. This month we will be saying Goodbye to Shona and Emmanuel. Their daddy plays football for the Nigerian Super Eagles and has been offered the opportunity to play for the Qatar National Team so the whole family will be relocating to Qatar. We wish them all the best on this amazing adventure.

At last !!!

Finally our latest addition to the Beeches Group has opened. We were given the green light for Oak Tree Day Nursery to go ahead and their opening day was on the 19th February.

Sadly this means that we have said goodbye to Shonda, who is the new Officer in Charge, and Chrystal who will also be working there. We will miss you both at Bay Tree House (even though we will probably still see you regularly) but wish you much success in your new jobs.

Over the last two months we have been looking at India as our country of interest. Thank you to Rohan’s mummy, Madhur, for bringing in some beautiful books, traditional Indian dress and currency for the children to look at. Sandra made pilau rice, lamb curry and naan bread for January’s meal of the month and chicken korma in February. These meals were enjoyed by the children and the staff!!

Traditional Indian costumes that Madhur lent to us.

Celebrating the diversity within our Nursery

During March and April we will be looking at Ireland as our Country of interest. The children will learn about the currency used, traditional costumes, what colours are in the flag and different foods that are popular from there. We would appreciate any input the parents can give. The children really enjoy looking at different countries and we would like to thank everyone who continues to make this such a positive experience for all.

St Patricks Day

Saint Patrick’s Day is a celebration that happens annually on 17 March to mark the death date of the most commonly-recognised patron saint of Ireland. The  day has become a holiday all around the world and for one day out of the year anyone can be Irish and join in the celebration. So come on everyone, wear something green for good luck to nursery on Friday 16th March and for the weekend children on Saturday 17th.

During March and April the rooms will be looking at everything Spring related. New growth, animals shedding their winter coats and birds laying their eggs. This month we will also be celebrating Mother’s Day and Easter.

World Book Day

On Thursday 1st March we will be celebrating World Book Day. Children are welcome to dress up as their favourite book character if they wish or they can bring their favourite book to Nursery for the staff to read.

Mothers Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all our Lovely Mum’s, Grans and Parent Carer’s.

Parents Evening

Our first Parents evening of the year is on Thursday 29th March. This is a good opportunity for you to meet with your child’s keyworker to discuss your child’s development. If this is your first Parent’s evening please look out for the appointment times that will be on your child’s classroom door. We can only allocate a 10 minute slot due to the numbers of parents that need to be seen. No children are allowed on the evening. You can pay to use the late service if you need to bring your child but will be charged for this.

A reminder to parent’s that the Nursery will be closed on Friday 30th March and Monday 2nd April for Easter. Our Easter Egg hunt will be on Wednesday 28th March. Hopefully the Easter bunny will leave us some lovely chocolate treats in the Garden for the children to find. We wish you all a lovely Easter and hope you enjoy the break.
