May Newsletter

Hello and Goodbye

We would like to say a big hello to Kamaliyah who joined our Upper baby room at the end of last month and Alexandre, Sebastian and Arianna who are joining this month. A big welcome to Bay Tree House and we hope they enjoy their time with us.

Celebrating the Diversity within our Nursery

Throughout May and June we will be looking at Lithuania as our country of interest. The children will learn about the currency used, traditional stories, what colours are in their flag, different foods that are popular from there and interesting facts about Lithuania. If you are interested in providing any information or would like to come in and cook to help us make this really interesting for the children please speak to your child’s keyworker.

For March and April we looked at Iceland as our country of interest. The children looked at the currency used, the flag of Iceland, Animals found there and popular food.  A big thank you to Steina, Ari’s mum, for providing us with lots of information and bringing real currency for them to handle.

Theme of the month

In May and June the baby rooms will be looking at ‘Under the Sea’ and Blue, Red and Yellow rooms are looking at ‘Oceans’ and ‘Sports Health’.  We will also be celebrating Father’s Day.

Inset Day

We have our second Inset day of the year on the 5th June and again we are inviting the parents to attend. We have hired the function room in the Jubilee ground on Canadian Avenue and have an independent EYFS consultant and trainer coming in to speak about how staff and parents can work in partnership together and transition to school and school readiness. The previous two Inset days where we invited the parents were a great success. The session will be from 9.30-12.30 and a buffet lunch will be provided after. We will be opening the nursery from 9-3pm for the children of the parents who will be attending the Inset Day.

Sainsbury’s vouchers

The Sainsbury’s vouchers will finish in stores on the 2nd May so if you have any odd ones at home could you please bring them in. Thank you to all the parents who have been collecting them for us and hopefully our final count will beat last years.

We have a photographer coming in on Monday 15th May to take photos of the children in the nursery. A letter will be going out to all parents for consent if you wish your child to take part.

Sports Day

Our Annual Sports day will be on Monday 12th June in Mountsfield Park at 9.30am. This is organised by Pro Stars Soccer who run our weekly sessions at Nursery. All parents are invited to attend and we hope to see you taking part in the Mum’s and Dad’s races.

General House keeping

A reminder to all parents that if you leave your pushchairs in the buggy shed they need to be folded down. If any are left open they will be removed from the shed and left on the drive. We are also noticing that scooters/bikes and other ride on toys are also being left and ask that you avoid bringing these to nursery. If any are found in the shed we will put them in the garden for the children to use.

Outdoor Play

The weather is very changeable at the moment but this should not stop your child from having fun playing outdoors. Can you please make sure they have the appropriate outdoor clothing for this time of year and also check that your child’s blue bag contains winter spare clothes and that they have a pair of wellingtons that can be left at nursery.
