Bay Tree House Day Nursery is registered by Ofsted for the daytime care of 55 children aged from 3 months. The nursery is spread over a large detached house with a good sized garden.
We have two baby rooms for children aged 3 months to 2 years. These are bright, airy rooms where each child’s individual requirements are catered for. Each baby is encouraged to develop through creative and sensory activities, maximising their curiosity and allowing them to explore, play imaginatively and experiment using different materials. Our babies enjoy activities structured around their changing interests, providing lots of rich opportunities to stimulate their active minds. We operate a 1:3 ratio in our baby rooms.
At Bay tree House the large outdoor space is separated into 3 areas. The first area has a safety surface and is covered by a large canopy making it accessible in all weathers. The second section is a grassed area with a gardening and digging section, climbing frame ,water play , a large musical instrument area and our chickens are housed in this section. In the third section we have a large sandpit, childrens playhouse and the building which our After School club children use. We cover all areas of the EYFS outdoors .
We keep in touch with the local community by taking the children out on visits to the shops, library and parks. We also have visits into the nursery from the local police, fire services and dentists.
Appropriate activities are provided for the children both indoors and outdoors. These activities are linked to the EYFS and include on site activities such as Spanish, Dance and drama and Pro stars football school.
Our two toddler rooms cater for children aged from 2 to 3 years with a 1:4 ratio. In both these rooms we create a more structured environment to help all the children thrive as they play. The children do have free choice from a wide range of activities helping them to become more independent as they socialise and interact more with their peers alongside a supporting key worker.
The pre school room focuses on preparing children for primary school through play. The stimulating setting and large range of resources encourages the children to stretch their skills and imagination. Each child’s individual strengths and weaknesses are taken into account when being planned for and all the children have the opportunity to engage in activities such as baking, gardening and learning about recycling. We also take the Pre School children swimming weekly to the Glass Mill Leisure centre
